Tucked between the Niagara Escarpment and the shores of Lake Ontario lies a region that feels worlds away, yet is just a short drive from Toronto. Welcome to Twenty Valley, a slice of Ontario that blends rolling vineyards, creative cuisine, natural beauty, and small-town charm into one unforgettable getaway.
Whether you’re a wine enthusiast, a brunch lover, or someone who just wants to slow down and soak in nature, Twenty Valley offers a little something for everyone. Here’s your guide to the best the region has to offer. From wineries, to things to do, to restaurants, to places to stay, Twenty Valley has it all.
Sip & Swirl: Must-Visit Wineries
Twenty Valley is home to some of Ontario’s most acclaimed wineries—many of them family-run and focused on sustainability, small-batch wines, and a welcoming experience. Here are some of my favourites:
13th Street Winery (St. Catharines): Part gallery, part bakery, part vineyard—this winery is a feast for all senses. Try their sparkling rosé, browse the onsite art, and don’t leave without grabbing a butter tart or sourdough loaf from the bakery.
Tawse Winery (Vineland): An organic and biodynamic winery known for elegant Chardonnays and Pinots. The tasting room staff are incredibly knowledgeable, and the property is peaceful and picturesque.
Peninsula Ridge (Beamsville): You’ll recognize it by the beautiful Queen Anne-style house overlooking the vineyard. Their Pinot Noir is a local favourite, and the views are just as impressive as the wines.
Vineland Estates (Vineland): A classic stop, especially for first-timers to the region. Sample award-winning Rieslings and explore the beautifully restored buildings on the estate.
Westcott Vineyards (Jordan Station): Rustic charm meets small-lot winemaking. Westcott’s welcoming restored barn and seasonal patio make it a great place for lunch and lounging.
Things to Do Beyond the Wine Glass
While wine may be the star of the show, Twenty Valley has a long list of other unique experiences to enjoy between sips.
The Watering Can (Vineland): A dreamy spot for floral lovers and tea drinkers alike. Stop by for afternoon tea in the greenhouse or take part in one of their hands-on floral workshops.
Ball’s Falls Conservation Area (Lincoln): Lace up your hiking shoes and explore this natural haven with scenic waterfalls and easy-to-moderate level trails. Fall is especially magical when the foliage lights up in reds and golds.
Dillon’s Small Batch Distillers (Beamsville): Known for their handcrafted gin, vodka, and bitters, Dillon’s offers intimate tastings and a boutique stocked with small-batch spirits and cocktail kits.
JP Niagara Tulip Experience (Pelham): Come spring, the fields burst into colour with thousands of tulips, making it one of the most Instagram-worthy stops in the region. Later in the summer, the fields switch gears to showcase golden sunflowers which are equally stunning.
Where to Eat: Local Favourites
Twenty Valley is dotted with cozy cafes, upscale wineries, and hidden gem restaurants that showcase local ingredients and a passion for flavour.
The Good Earth Food & Wine Co. (Beamsville): A favourite for its sun-soaked patio and fresh, seasonal menus. Book ahead, it’s popular for good reason.
Redstone Winery & Restaurant (Beamsville): Sip Redstone’s bold reds while enjoying a farm-to-table meal with vineyard views.
Revalee Brunch Café (Vineland): A modern café that takes brunch seriously, with vegan and gluten-free options alongside decadent classics. They also serve an excellent cup of coffee!
Restaurant Pearl Morissette / RPM Bakehouse (Jordan): Whether you’re dining at the award-winning restaurant or picking up flaky pastries at RPM Bakehouse, this is a must-stop for foodies. The 2025 first place winner of Canada’s Best 100 restaurants, this spot books up well ahead of time for good reason!
Just Cooking Rustic Italian (Vineland): Think handmade pasta, slow-cooked sauces, and warm hospitality in a casual, comforting setting.
Root & Bone (Fonthill): This farm to table spot offers an a la carte menu Wednesdays and Thursdays and a 4-course prix fixe menu Fridays and Saturdays. Be sure to check out their lovely patio in the summer.
Where to Stay
From boutique inns to orchard escapes and glamping under the stars, Twenty Valley has overnight options for every kind of traveler.
Inn on the Twenty: Right in the heart of Jordan Village, this charming inn offers elegant rooms, a full-service spa, and direct access to shops, galleries, and the Cave Springs winery.
Inn the Orchard (Lincoln): A quaint and peaceful Airbnb surrounded by fruit trees. Perfect for quiet mornings and countryside vibes.
Twin Pods Glamping (St. Catharines): A unique stay for adventurers or couples looking for something different, these cozy glamping tents offer comfort with a touch of wilderness charm.
Twenty Valley blends all the best parts of a wine country escape: exceptional wines, memorable meals, and scenic charm that makes you want to stay just one more day. It’s the kind of place where time slows down, strangers become friends over a shared bottle, and every turn in the road leads to something beautiful.
So whether you’re planning a weekend escape or a day trip, pack your picnic basket, charge your camera, and make your way to one of Ontario’s most enchanting regions.
