Ontario Tea Rooms Every Tea Lover Must Try

Updated: Nov 25, 2023

Who doesn’t love to enjoy an afternoon being treated like royalty while sipping away at a relaxing cup of tea and sampling delicious baked goods? Pinkies up friends and lets explore some of my favourite spots for afternoon tea.

Blue Willow Tea Shop

The Blue Willow Tea Shop located in Gravenhurst is a lovely spot right on the water that has been delighting local residents, cottagers and visitors from around the world since 2006. Afternoon Tea includes your choice of sandwich with scones and sweets, while their High Tea includes a selection of tea sandwiches & savouries, assorted scones with Devon Cream and Preserves and a selection of sweets, all beautifully served on a three- tiered tray. This spot is one of my favorites for food presentation.

Parisienne Bakery

Parisienne Bakery, located at the beautiful waterfront resort Friday Harbour in Innisfil, is a traditional French Bakery with the most beautiful interior that is the picture perfect spot to enjoy tea. With severed different tea options to choose from, including Cream Tea, Strawberry Tea, Light Tea, Full Tea, Champagne Tea and Teddy Bear Tea, there’s something for every taste and price range.

The Wild Tart

The Wild Tart in Elora is a restaurant that also serves several tea options in the afternoon. You can choose from Classic, Signature, Savoury, Vegan and Gluten-Free options, there’s really something for everyone! I recommend visiting in the summer and sitting in their charming courtyard patio.

The Watering Can

The Watering Can in Lincoln serves the most lovely “Garden Tea” in their tropical greenhouse surrounded with lush foliage. This location is my favourite for the actual setting which is so unique. Their tea presentation is also very pretty, with lots of colour and floral touches. This one is a must visit if you’re near the Niagara region.

Royal Tea on King

Royal Tea on King is a traditional British tea room located in Midland. They also house a small but well stocked grocery area featuring British imports. The mini quiche served with this afternoon tea, made with Mrs Darlington’s chutney was life changing and I loved that I was able to pick up some of the chutney after I enjoyed my tea.

The Drawing Room at The Prince of Wales Hotel and Spa

If you’re looking for a high-end tea experience, The Drawing Room at The Prince of Wales Hotel and Spa is an iconic spot located in Niagara on the Lake. With their ornate tea sets, delicate desserts, regal décor, and an impeccable attention-to-detail, you will be transported to the Victorian era as soon as you step through the doors. This is one tea service that will definitely leave you feeling pampered and satisfied.

The Lovely Teahouse

The Lovely Teahouse is a traditional teahouse and intimate event venue located in Oro Medonte. Located in a beautiful Victorian home, you can choose from Afternoon, Cream or Garden tea served on fine bone china tiered trays with finger sandwiches, fresh scones w/clotted cream and jam, delicate desserts and your favourite pot of Lovely Tea.

You can also book events, like showers, children’s and adult tea parties at this venue in their stunning boho rustic loft.

The Bruce

The Bruce is another high-end tea location located in Stratford. Located in the restaurant of the well-appointed Bruce Hotel, Afternoon Tea Service is served from 2pm - 4pm each Sunday with a menu that changes weekly. At this tea service, the finger sandwiches were the highlight for me, made with unique and delicious ingredients that are a twist on the traditional, with many of the ingredients being sourced locally from Perth County.

Nestled in the quaint town of Shakespeare, Ontario, the Harry Ten Shilling Tea Room is a charming haven for tea enthusiasts. Their mouthwatering pastries, sandwiches, and scones were extremely generous in portion and we left with plenty to enjoy at home. Visitors can also explore nearby attractions such as the Stratford Festival, located just 10 minutes away.
